Upcoming PTO Meetings for 2023/2024
Monday, October 16th, 7:00-8:00pm Zoom: Hear from principal Dr. Mark Ito and the WMS Department Heads about the strategic vision for the future of WMS, in addition to fall updates from the school. Please submit your questions in advance to wmsptoinfo@gmail.com. No question is too small and we hope to get to them all. All parents are welcome to join. This is the first of four all-parent PTO meetings.
Wednesday, November 29th, 6:30-8:30pm: All parents are welcome to join our new METCO Director, Stephanie Holland, at the Shelburne Community Center in Roxbury to hear about the latest updates to the METCO program as they pertain to WMS. This is a joint meeting in Boston with the WHS PTSO. All parents are welcome to join.
Tuesday, March 12th, 7:00-8:00pm, Webinar: The PTO is looking to hold an online webinar to talk about healthy habits around effective study skills and organization. We are looking into the company “Engaging Minds” which focuses on Executive Function skills and provides tutoring. If you would like to weigh in on a topic you feel would be beneficial for all parents to hear, we would love to hear from you! Please email Katie and Annie at wmsptoinfo@gmail.com with your ideas for this spring all parent PTO meeting.
Monday, June 10th, 12:30-1:30pm, WMS Library: Join us in-person for this all parent PTO meeting where we’ll talk about the year and any changes we want to make for the upcoming school year, present the 2024/2025 budget, and peruse the book fair of Summer Reading books available to purchase through Wellesley Books. It’s a great way to end the year and celebrate our accomplishments across all committees.
Please join us in the WMS Auditorium the evening of December 5th for nationally known keynote speaker, Katie Greer. She’ll be speaking on internet safety and security, social media sites and best practices for keeping our kids safe online. PTO Meeting Minutes: Monthly Board Meetings & All Parent Meetings
2023/2024 WMS PTO Budget
Our total operating budget for the year is $67,085 with a total of $28,000 going towards Classroom Enrichment, Creative Arts Grants, and Professional Development. $18,150 goes towards events such as Mini Marathon, School Dances, Turkey Promenade, Teacher & Staff Faculty Meetings, Welcome Back Staff Luncheon, and a New Family Coffee in the fall. Costs do add up quickly for roughly 900 students and 130 administrators at WMS.
Annual Appeal Update: As of October 16th, 2023 we have received 16% participation from families who have donated to the WMS PTO Fund. THANK YOU WMS FAMILIES!
