Alice’s research interests are predominantly in clinical aspects of alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), fields in which she has published widely. Optimising monitoring and therapy for AATD is a major focus for her group. They are also studying aspects of care delivery for COPD, particularly those that span from secondary into primary care and including clinical trials that optimise self-management of COPD.
Robert Barry is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology and Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in inflammatory eye disease. His main clinical and research interest is ocular inflammatory disease, both affecting the intra-ocular microenvironment (uveitis) and ocular surface (keratitis and scleritis). He provides a highly-specialist service for complex ocular inflammatory diseases at the Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre.
Joyce Yeung is Associate Clinical Professor of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Warwick. She is theme lead of the emergency and critical care group within Warwick Clinical Trials Unit. Clinically she holds appointments as a Consultant in Critical Care Medicine at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Joyce Yeung is Deputy Director of UK Perioperative Medicine Clinical Trials Network and Chair of Patient Care Public Involvement and Engagement Group at Health Service Research Centre, National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia. She is joint Clinical Speciality Lead for Anaesthesia (West Midlands CRN). She is chair of ILS Subcommittee and has led the development of new e-ILS course. She serves as expert systematic reviewer and taskforce member of ILCOR and scientific and education committee member of ERC. Joyce is Chief Investigator of REGARD study.
Dr Patel is an ST6 Respiratory Trainee within the KSS Deanery with a special interest in COPD and integrated care. He is a clinical research fellow in respiratory medicine at University Hospitals Birmingham and is currently working on a study exploring the benefits of integrated COPD care. He also has experience as a Sub-I on phase 2 and 3 respiratory clinical trials.
Susanna is currently an Academic Foundation Programme doctor in FY2 year with a research interest in radiology.
Danielle is currently an Academic Foundation Trainee in Medical Education, in her FY2 year working as a Clinical Teaching Fellow and undertaking a PGCert in Medical Education.
Michael is an FY2 Academic Foundation Programme doctor in respiratory medicine in Birmingham. He has a history of research in cellular and molecular neuroscience in which he completed a bachelor and master's degree. His future research interests include critical care medicine and medical education.
Aidan is currently an Academic Foundation Doctor based in Birmingham. He has previously undertaken research in Respiratory and Immunological medicine. His current clinical and research interests include Critical Care Medicine and Anaesthesia which he hopes to pursue further alongside an interest in medical education.
