West Mifflin is one of eleven schools in the South Hills that collaborates with Steel Center Career and Technincal Institute to provide hands-on learning experiences to students grades 10-12.

When can Freshmen apply for Steel Center?
Freshmen will apply for Steel Center in the Spring when scheduling for their 10th grade year. Students will need to be in good academic and attendance standing to apply. Program spots fill up quickly, so students need to make sure they attend a TLT "Steel Center Application" session with their laptops. School counselors will walk the students through the Steel Center application along with adding Steel Center to their WEST MIFFLIN schedule in Powerschool. Applicants can apply for a maximum three majors.
When do I know if I was accepted into Steel Center?
Steel Center applicants will find out their acceptance in May. Applicants who do not receive their first choice, can still be placed into their second or third choices. There is a waitlist for those wanting to be in a certain program if all spots are full at first. Applicants will need to accept their spot with Steel Center.
How do WMAHS students get to and from Steel Center each day?
West Mifflin students participant in the afternoon session at Steel Center. Tech students eat TLT Lunch "A," then board the tech bus that takes them to Steel Center. Tech students receive bus transportation home from Steel Center. If a WM student participates in a sport or after school activity, there is a bus that takes them back to the WMAHS campus.
Do I have to pay for Steel Center?
No. Steel Center is a public school.
