A grade of 75% (300/400) or higher on both booklets is needed to pass.

The EQAO Writing Component tests your knowledge of the following:
The WRITING of an INFORMATION PARAGRAPH
The WRITING of an OPINION PARAGRAPH
The WRITING of a NEWS REPORT
The WRITING of a PERSUASIVE ESSAY
BOOKLET 1 FEATURES PARAGRAPH WRITING and the NEWS REPORT.
The paragraph may accompany a non-fiction or fiction based reading or, may be a free-standing independent write with its own prompt.
The news report will be written in response to a photographic prompt included in the booklet.
BOOKLET 2 FEATURES PARAGRAPH WRITING and the PERSUASIVE ESSAY.
The paragraph may accompany a non-fiction or fiction based reading or may be a free-standing independent write with its own prompt.
The persuasive essay will be written in response to a topic given that will elicit an "agree" or "disagree" thesis construction further supported by an intro, body, and conclusion paragraphs.

The EQAO Reading Component Features Multiple Choice Questions that accompany both non-fiction and fiction reads. There are a variety of questions:
Questions based on the W5H (who, what, when, where, why/how)
Questions based on Chronological Sequence of Events (Datelines, Timelines, Past/Present/Future Logic)
Questions based on Vocabulary (definition of words of definition of punctuation used in the passage)
Questions based on Punctuation (definition or use of key punctuation in the passage)
Questions based on Inference (deducting the importance or significance of the passage, lesson leaned or simply, conclusions drawn from the ideas presented)
