I'm currently supervising multiple theses. If you are interested in writing a thesis under my supervision, please read through my Guidelines first.
Letters of Recommendation
I am happy to write letters of recommendation for students I know and whose academic or research work I can evaluate. If you are considering asking me for a letter, please make sure the following applies:
Eligibility
I will usually write a letter if:
You have taken at least one advanced class or seminar with me and performed well (typically top 15–20% of the class)
OR I have supervised your research, thesis, or RA work
What to Send Me
Please send the following in one email:
Your CV (latest version)
Current transcript of records + your current grade average
Draft of your Statement of Purpose/Letter of Motivation (if available)
List of programs you are applying to, including deadlines and submission instructions
A short note summarizing your career goals and any points you’d like me to emphasize
Timing
Please request your letter at least 3 weeks before the first deadline
My Approach
Letters are confidential (i.e., I will never send them to students directly) and typically include comparative evaluation (e.g., “top X% of students I have taught in recent years”). I write honest, detailed letters that describe your strengths and potential in context.
Below you will find some courses I taught with their corresponding Syllabus. You can also download the detailed teaching evaluations (for some years).
