Ms. Elena Zarecky, Choir Director

I am thrilled to be working with the Palmer High School Choirs! Music has always been my passion, and I love being able to share that with my students. I believe that the arts make our world a better place and that every child should have access to music education. Through music, I hope to help each of my students grow and discover more about themselves and their unique talents and passions.

I bring a wide variety of experience to my classroom. A versatile musician and performer, I have studied piano, voice, and brass. Tuba is my specialty, and I enjoy teaching private lessons and playing in ensembles, including the Pikes Peak Brass Band. I went to school for tuba, but singing is my passion, starting my choral career at age 11 as a member of the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale and singing in many school and community choirs since then. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, trying out new recipes, and crafting.

Concert Choir

Grades 9-12
Beginning, non-auditioned
SAB

This choir is open to all voices with or without previous vocal experience. The choir performs one concert a quarter, including an adjudicated state festival. Singers will gain confidence performing in a group, develop vocal technique, sight reading skills, and musical knowledge. This group performs varied styles of choral music with and without piano accompaniment. In this group singers build fundamental community and relationships for their time in Palmer Performing Arts. Attendance at scheduled performances is required and is considered part of the student's grade. All incoming freshmen should enroll in Concert Choir (Sop Sop Alto Alto or Tenor Tenor Bar Bass).

Advanced Treble Ensemble

Grades 9-12
Intermediate, audition-only
SSAA

This choir is open to sopranos and altos, by audition, with previous vocal experience. The choir performs one concert a quarter, including an adjudicated state festival. This group performs varied styles of choral music with and without piano accompaniment. Selected singers in this group are encouraged to prepare for and audition for the Colorado All State Choir, as well as the Western Slope Choral Festival. Attendance at scheduled performances is required and is considered part of the student's grade.

Chamber Singers

Grades 10-12
Advanced, audition-only
SATB

The Palmer High School Chamber Singers perform advanced choral repertoire from all genres and represent Palmer at contests, festivals, and community events. Strong choral and sight reading skills and dedication are required to be selected to sing in this choir. All singers prepare for and are encouraged to audition for the Colorado All State Choir, as well as the Western Slope Choral Festival. Attendance at scheduled performances is required and is considered part of the student's grade.

Music & Main Jazz Choir

Grades 10-12
Advanced, audition-only
SSAA

Singers learn vocal jazz microphone singing technique, and every singer uses their own mic. Singers also learn how to sing with a rhythm section, improvise, and operate sound technology. All singers prepare for and are encouraged to audition for Colorado All State Jazz Choir.
