Inspired by similar efforts at schools such as River Hill and Centennial, Walter Johnson's math enthusiasts banded together to create our first math journal. In this project, interested students write up expository research articles on math topics of their choice. The inaugural edition will be published as an addition to Howard County's math journal database, courtesy of Mr. Kennedy.
Students, as well as some alumni, can write about anything pertaining to math! We have three main sections: pure math, applied math, and math history/biographies. Below you will find some topics from 2024-25:
Diophantine equations, ordinary/partial differential equations, classical mechanics, the discretization operator, group theory, Are all mathematicians geniuses?

The WJ Math Journal is a project of the WJ Math Team, which meets every Tuesday in Room 241 during lunch. In addition, we will have a stand at the Freshman Picnic on Thursday, August 21st at 6 pm, where you can find out more about the journal project. If you have any further questions, please contact Ian Kim or Batir Yakhshilikov (co-presidents of WJMT for 2025-26) at ian.hyunwoo.kim@gmail.com or batiryakhshilikov@gmail.com or on Discord.
