Witty Ditty ("the Game", "we", "us", or "our") is a client-side rhyming word puzzle game designed to respect your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you play Witty Ditty on our website or mobile applications.
By playing the Game, you agree to the practices outlined in this policy.
We believe you shouldn't have to share your personal life to enjoy a quick word puzzle.
No Accounts: You do not need to create an account, register, or provide an email address, password, or phone number to play Witty Ditty.
No Server Storage of Personal Data: We do not collect, store, or transmit any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as your name, physical address, precise geolocation, or contacts.
To track your game progress, current streak, win-loss distribution, puzzle completions, and preferences, Witty Ditty utilizes standard client-side storage technologies (such as browser localStorage and local device storage via mobile app wrappers).
What is stored locally on your device:
Gameplay metrics: Win/loss distribution, current and max streaks, and completed puzzle IDs.
Preferences: Notification toggle states, onboarding status, and push notification registration tokens.
Content Caching: Local caches of puzzle definitions downloaded to allow fast offline gameplay.
Control of Your Data:
This information remains entirely on your physical device. It is never transmitted to our servers. You can clear your game history, reset statistics, or erase cached data at any time by:
Navigating to "Settings" or "Stats & Options" inside the game and choosing "Reset Stats" or "Reset Puzzles".
Clearing your web browser's cache or your mobile app's data in your device settings.
To help us understand game difficulty and optimize the gameplay experience, we use Google Analytics (a service provided by Google LLC) to collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics.
We log generic events such as:
Puzzle outcomes (e.g., when a puzzle is completed or if a wrong guess is submitted).
Hint triggers (e.g., when a player requests a hint).
Share triggers (e.g., whether results were copied to clipboard or shared via native share sheets).
Interface interactions (e.g., opening the "How to Play" screen or settings).
Google Analytics collects this data in an anonymous format. It may use device identifiers or cookies to determine unique visits, but this data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking through your mobile device settings, browser privacy extensions, or cookie configurations.
For users playing on mobile devices (via iOS or Android applications built with Capacitor):
Notifications (Local & Push): If enabled, Witty Ditty uses local on-device notifications and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) / Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to send optional daily reminders when new puzzles unlock (such as an 8:00 AM daily notification).
Push notification registration tokens are stored locally on your device.
You can enable or disable notification permissions at any time inside the game options or through your device's System Notification Settings.
Remote Puzzle Updates: The application may perform background read-only HTTP checks to Google Firebase Storage to download updated puzzle content. No personal user data, scores, or identifiers are transmitted during these content updates.
Sharing Features: When you choose to share your puzzle results, the Game utilizes your operating system’s native share sheet or copies a summary to your clipboard. Witty Ditty does not access your photos, camera, or personal files.
Baseline Device Permissions: The mobile application requests only the baseline system permissions required to run the game web container, deliver notifications, and facilitate standard sharing.
A. Canadian Privacy Rights (PIPEDA)
As a developer based in Ontario, Canada, we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Because we do not collect, use, or disclose personal information in commercial activities, your privacy is protected under our zero-data framework.
B. European Union Users (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), users in the European Economic Area (EEA) have strict rights regarding their personal data. Witty Ditty does not collect or process "personal data" as defined by the GDPR. Anonymous telemetry collected via Google Analytics is processed under the legal basis of legitimate business interest to maintain and secure the Game.
C. California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
Witty Ditty does not "sell" or "share" personal information of California consumers, nor do we collect any sensitive personal information as defined under California law.
Witty Ditty is designed for players of all ages. Because we do not collect any personal information, the Game complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and similar worldwide child privacy guidelines.
