Amy is a native Michigander who grew up always wanting to help children, especially thoes with special needs. She earned her Bachelors of Science from Eastern Michigan University in 2008 where she majored in special education: physical and other health impairments, and minored in early childhood education. She moved to Charlotte, NC in 2009 and began teaching inclusive special education. In 2013, she earned her Masters of Education in Special Education from Winthrop University in South Carolina. In 2020, Amy finished an additional certification in special education: cognitive impairments, from Eastern Michigan University.
Amy has taught inclusive pre-k, resource K-5, self-contained K-5 and 9-12+, homebound, and inclusive preschool, as of late and most often, over her past 15 years of teaching. She has taught in both Michigan and North Carolina.
Amy is married and has one daughter, who has been the subject of her practice over the last 4.5 years.
Though the idea of "With Amy's Help" came while Amy was in graduate school, now, almost 10 years later, Amy is working to bring it to life. Amy hopes to be able to support parents of young children and parents of children with special needs through her pictures, videos, and suggestions, as well as answer questions sent or through appointments made.
Thank you for believing in me and trusting me.
