During the academic year WiTec members are presented with various ongoing and new projects to lead and/or collaborate on. Members assist each other on projects to ensure everyone has the necessary support and resources to successfully manage their project.
WiTec projects are not only resume builders, but also provide members with exclusive networking opportunities that can result in summer internships and employment. At WiTec, you will have the opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and build your network.
Trishla is a Master’s student in Applied Data Science at Syracuse University. She has an undergrad degree in Electronics and Communication. Currently she is the president for WiTec and vice-president for QuantumCuse and is working as a Data Engineer at the IVMF . Previously she worked for 4 years at Accenture as a developer and an analyst. She is an enthusiast learn new things and has certifications from Azure, GCP , AWS and Tableau.
Cecilia is a first year graduate student studying Computer Science. She earned her bachelor’s degree from UC San Diego, with a background in Sociology, law, and Japanese. She is looking forward to combine her passion for technology, social science, and languages to create positive social impacts in the world through digital innovations.
Peter is a research assistant under the supervision of Dr. Lee McKnight. He is a current graduate student at Syracuse University studying Information Management. Peter also manages WiTec's website.
Jane is a Doctor of Professional Studies student at Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies. She is also employed as a Functional Business Analyst at the same institution. As a doctoral student, her research focus is on Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Grids; more specifically, how they relate to Digital Inclusion. For instance, she is interested in how the use of the Internet Backpack can promote education, specifically, learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic (STEM) in rural communities to improve well-being. As an employee, some of her responsibilities are to maintain multiple batch processes and feeds sent to vendors, performing regression testing.
Danielle has conducted research focused in Gender studies; population displacement and migration; post-conflict reconciliation and reconstruction; global health/development; Africa and its diaspora; the United States.
Lee W. McKnight is an Associate Professor in Syracuse University's iSchool (School of Information Studies), and a Faculty Advisor to the Worldwide Innovation Technology and Entrepreneurship Club (WiTec)
Catherine Forrest is a '22 BS Information Management & Technology major specializing in data analytics and web design at Syracuse University. Catherine is the previous president of the tech entrepreneurship club WiTec and co-founder and president of CryptoCuse, the official SU cryptocurrency club. She has received grants to apply her skills in creating digital twin security solutions and frameworks for ethical data security and management on two research projects. Catherine is working to realize her dreams of developing software solutions to help defend the nation.
Zach is a Senior at Syracuse University and a Cyber Security Intern at National Grid. He is majoring in Information Management & Technology with a concentration in Cyber Security. As the ex-vice president of WiTec, Zach was responsible for project coordination and management of a variety of blockchain related WiTec projects.
Abu is a second year graduate student studying Applied Data Science at Syracuse University. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Western Washington University with a background in Physics. He's worked as a Production Technician at Safran and a Data Analyst at Syracuse University.
Biying is an undergraduate student at Syracuse University studying Information Management and Technology & Public Relations. Biying is an active member of WiTec and helps in managing WiTec's website.
Betania is a tech-savvy attorney specialized in the legal and policy implications of cybersecurity, compliance and counterterrorism while ensuring the integration of gender perspective across these fields. Moreover, she is knowledgeable in the facilitation and generation of bridges with strategic actors and cross-sector collaboration.
WiTec provides interested Syracuse University students with cutting edge opportunities to work on policy, standards, technology and business engagements. These often include collaboration with other universities (Ex. MIT and Columbia) and organizations (Ex. Google, VMWare, IBM, TM Forum), and federal, state and local government & international organizations (Ex. UN, OECD and EU).
