Who can study English at Washburn Tech?
Learners meeting four (4) criteria are eligible for WIOA Title II services.
(a) has attained 18 years of age
(b) is not enrolled or required to be enrolled in secondary school under state law
(c) is basic skills deficient, does not have a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent, or is an English language learner
(d) is a U.S. citizen, a U.S. non-citizen national, or a qualified alien
At this time, no documentation is required. We are awaiting further guidance regarding the collection of any required documentation and will notify you promptly if this changes.

What times are Adult ESL classes?
Day Classes are:
Morning 9:00am to 11:30am
or
Afternoon 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm
Night Classes are:
6:00 om to 8:30 pm
What days are the Adult ESL classes?
Day Classes:
Day classes for lower-level English langauge learners are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Day classes for higher-level English language learners are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
Night Classes:
Night classes for lower-level English langague learners are Monday and Wednesday
Night classes for higher-level English language learners are: Tuesday and Thursday
When are Adult ESL classes offered?
Fall semester - from August to December
Spring semester – from January to May
How much are the Adult ESL classes?
Students are asked to pay a $30 materials fee. As long as a student remains enrolled in good standing, no other payment is needed.
How long will it take to improve my English?
We teach 6 levels of English. On average, students who study English for 10 hours each week can improve one level after 3 months. However, each student’s success depends on many different factors. To improve, you must plan to study at least 8 hours each week.
What are Adult ESL classes like?
Our students study and practice English reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Our Adult Ed ESL classes use a collaborative learning environment for students to learn and practice their English language skills. In this type of classroom, students work in groups to share knowledge, improve, and practice their English language skills.
In addition to attending class, student are required to study and practice English online using their smart phones or home computer.
