WispNote Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 10, 2026

WispNote is a local journaling app. This policy explains how the app handles information generated when you use its journaling, image, canvas, and encryption features. Please read it carefully before use.

1. Information We Process

To provide journaling features, the app stores on your device the content you actively enter or select, including journal titles, categories, dates, moods, weather, tags, canvas text, brush strokes, page backgrounds, and layout information.

When you choose an image or background image through the system photo picker, the app reads the selected file and copies it to the app's private local storage to display and save the associated journal entry. The app does not scan your photo library or access images you have not selected.

2. Storage and Use of Information

The journal data and image resources described above are used only to provide features such as creating, editing, viewing, searching, restoring drafts, managing categories, and deleting entries. They are stored in the app's private storage and local database on your device. WispNote does not provide accounts, cloud sync, advertising, or behavioral analytics, and does not upload your journal content to a server.

System backup is disabled for the app. When you delete a journal entry, the related local content and resources used only by that entry are deleted as well. Uninstalling the app will generally also remove local data from the app's private storage.

3. Encryption Features

You can choose to encrypt a journal entry when saving it. For a saved encrypted entry, its content, metadata, and persisted image or background resources are encrypted in the app's private storage. After a successful unlock, the app may create decrypted copies of image resources in its private cache in order to display them. Drafts are stored locally to support restoration and may remain unencrypted until they are saved as an encrypted journal entry. Verification data for your unlock credential is stored in the local database, while encryption keys are generated and managed by the device's Android Keystore.

Please safeguard your unlock credential and recovery information. WispNote may be unable to restore data that becomes inaccessible because a device is lost, the system is reset, the app is uninstalled, local data is deleted, or recovery verification cannot be completed.

4. Information Sharing and Third Parties

WispNote does not sell, rent, share, or transfer your journal content to other individuals, companies, or service providers. The app uses the system's image picker, and you decide whether to select an image. This policy page loads only files included in the app and does not request or navigate to external web pages.

5. Your Choices and Control

You can edit or delete journal entries, delete categories, or change encryption settings in the app at any time. You can also clear the app's data through system settings or uninstall the app to remove local data from your device. Viewing, editing, or deleting encrypted journal entries requires the corresponding unlock verification.

6. Policy Updates and Contacting Us

This policy will be updated and displayed in the app when there are material changes to the app's features or information handling practices. If you have questions about this policy or local information handling, please use the developer contact information shown on WispNote's app distribution listing.
