The short story: Linked here is a song that I would love to sell to an established artist.
The short story: Linked here is a song that I would love to sell to an established artist.
The longer story: Back in the 90s, I was a touring musician -- a former ASCAP member. These days, I work a 'real job' and just noodle on my acoustic in the living room. Every now and then, I stumble on to a melody that just sticks with me. The song linked here grew out of one of those melodies, and I hope to get it to an artist who can take it further.
The lyrics: I'm not a sentimental guy, and my wife often asks about people we don't see anymore: "don't you miss _____?" The first verse is about friends one grows apart from. The second verse is about my parents, who have been gone for some years now.
The vocals you hear are my daughter.

Think about us all the time.
Of nights made better by good friends and wine
Singin’ loud in backs of cars….the sky full of stars
People go their separate ways
Sometimes get stuck and think of younger days
The directions we could go …. And all we didn’t know.
I don’t miss you. I don’t miss you and that’s strange….I guess
But I wish you. I wish you…happiness
You kept the house up and you saved.
You kept the kids on track – we’re doing great.
Never questioned what it’s for…and what you’re tumbling toward
Don’t ever think about the fights
Now night’s made better by a book and quiet
You’ve put everything away…..no more trying days
I don’t miss you. I don’t miss you and that’s strange….I guess
But I wish you. I wish you…happiness
I think about you all the time
