About me

My name is Bakinaz Abdalla, and I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion, University of Birmingham. I work with Professor Yujin Nagasawa on the Global Philosophy of Religion project.

I gradated with a PhD in Jewish studies (philosophy) from McGill University in Canada in 2019. At McGill, my PhD advisers were Professor Carlos Fraenkel and Professor Lawrence Kaplan. I wrote my thesis on the thought of the Jewish Averroist Isaac Albalag (13th century) whose sole treatise Sefer Tiqqu ha-de'ot (The Emendation of the Opinions) offers a platform for studying the interaction between medieval Jewish and Islamic philosophy.
