Dr. Herath is an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Drake University’s Zimpleman College of Business, holding a Ph.D. in Mathematics with a specialization in Statistics from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC). Before joining Drake, he served as a graduate teaching and research assistant at SIUC, gaining experience in statistical instruction and research.

His research focuses on time series and econometric models, regression models, dimension reduction, multivariate analysis, and statistical learning. He has developed advanced statistical methodologies, including novel time series and econometric models. His work has been published in prestigious journals, including the Journal of Business & Economic Statistics (JBES), Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics (JCGS), and the Journal of Multivariate Analysis (JMVA).

In the classroom, Dr. Herath is committed to excellence in teaching and mentorship. He teaches courses in statistical methods, regression analysis, and statistical programming and actively supports students' academic and professional development. He strives to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters academic growth and intellectual development.
