It is unjust to allow corporations to continue to dominate the lives of us all. We must strengthen unions and tax capitalists to level the playing field. We believe that every single billionaire is a policy failure, and that the existence of a capital class is inherently oppressive to the lower class. We must end the continued concentration and hereditary nature of Capital, and that we must end the private banks that enable this practice.
Nobody who works a full time job should make less than a living wage. The minimum wage must be raised to $18/hour nationwide and be made higher in high cost of living areas such as New York City and Los Angeles, and this Minimum Wage must rise with inflation. The rights of all unions, both public and private sector, must be protected. This includes the ability to collectively bargain, strike, and engage in pickets.
We call for an expansion of the welfare state to seize assets and money from the rich and redistribute it to the working class. Capital gains is not legitimate wealth, and must be taken by the state whenever legal and given to the working class in the forms of free healthcare, education, childcare, and many other programs to help empower the ordinary person. A wealth tax and an income cap must be implemented to prevent the wealthiest in society from maintaining their position of power over the rest of us. Capital's position of power comes from their continued wealth and the concentration of it, and even if capitalism will tend toward concentration, as socialists we can do as best we can to challenge the system from inside of it.
Housing is a Human Right. Some of the most oppressive forms of capitalists can be found in landlords, and we must specifically attack their power over our lives whenever is possible. Public Housing projects must be expanded, better funded, and cheapened to level the playing field. Rent Control must be put in place in a national program to limit the raising of rents, as well as strict regulation of short-term rental services such as AirBnB. Gentrification is one of the most damaging forces of Capital to destroy and serious resistance to it, and we must combat this process at every turn. We must expand public transit and end the toxic car culture that has destroyed our urban life for decades. We will end homelessness with these plans.
There must be constitutional protections put in place for all people regardless of sexuality, sex, gender, or all other immutable characteristics. Planned Parenthood serves an essential role in family planning and LGBTQ+ health and safety, and must be fully funded and expanded. Dress codes and official public documents will be de-gendered. The overly restrictive name change process will be made easier. Intersex mutilation must be outlawed, and gender affirmation care must be made medically necessary under the National Health System. The Trans Panic defense will be outlawed, along with Conversion Therapy.
Family leave must be mandatory and broader, and the WIC program must be expanded. SESTA/FOSTA must be repealed and sex work must be decriminalized and recognized as legitimate as any other form of work. Universal childcare must be put in place, and the Hyde Amendment must be repealed. Abortion Coverage must be included in certain circumstances under a Government Health Program, and Pay Equity must be mandated for Women and non-binary people.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement must be immediately abolished. Instead, a Citizenship, Refugee, and Immigration Agency must be created in order to bring in new members to our country. State Border Patrols will be outlawed, and Amnesty must be granted to every single undocumented immigrant currently in the United States. Whistleblowers must be protected and provided sanctuary inside of the United States. Sanctuary Cities will be given all resources they were previously deprived as well as amends made for how the Trump Administration hurt them.
Each and every private prison must be abolished, and any for-profit enterprise which relies on prison labor ended. Nonviolent drug crimes will all be decriminalized, and anyone convicted of such must be freed from their unjust imprisonment. Police must be completely reformed and democratically overseen to ensure no abuses of power take place whatsoever. Voting rights cannot be taken away from a citizen for any reason, including status as a felon, to prevent further disenfranchisement of minority communities. We will commit to performing restorative justice rather than the punitive justice far too commonplace.
We must switch to 100% renewable energy within the next decade, or else face destructive forces that would threaten our ways of life. The Energy Industry must be nationalized, using First Secretary Parado's plans as a model for the nation. High Speed Rail must be built in order to remove the need to use cars to travel long distances, and car taxes must be put in place to make these High Speed Rails cheaper to ride. Local Public Transit must be subsidized and expanded.
The Fossil Fuel trade must end immediately, with the export and import slowly phased out, to slow carbon output in the rest of the world. Countries which refuse to engage in climate-friendly policies must be sanctioned and pressured to lower their carbon emissions at similar rates to the United States. We must nationalize and modernize the entire energy grid, and restore lands taken to build pipelines to native peoples.
Urban sprawl must come to an end, seeing its effects on the environment between its perpetuation of car culture, mass manufacturing of concrete, and inherent low density development patterns. Zoning laws must be reformed to allow medium and high density buildings to be built more easily, as well as curbing back on single-use, single-family, and parking requirements, all of which further encourage these poor development practices.
Modern agricultural practices such as vertical farming must be encouraged, with all of the farmland which produces least being re-forested, and the owners compensated and re-employed. Grass lawns should be discouraged in all places possible in order to cut down on excessive water and electric waste, with native plants put back such as moss, wild grass, or productive plants, such as flowers or vegetables.
