What are all these maps? Why so many, and what's the differences between them?
There are 3 basic GoLife Group types, with associated maps so you can find meetups being hosted by those kinds of groups. There are also a few additional Pre-Filtered Maps created as special requests, and a map of ALL meetups. (Note any additional special requests should be sent to WinnebagoMeetups@gmail.com.)
The maps associated with the 3 GoLIfe Group Types are as follows. Note that we also include "Winnebago" hosted meetups like Camp Winnebago (aka "Camp Winnebago") on all of these. Meetups Hosted by...
Location-Based GoLife Groups
Filtered to show only Location-Based GoLife Group hosted meetups.
A great map to find meetups to hang with other Winnebago owners in your home area, or make new friends when you'll be traveling in the region.
Special Interest GoLife Groups
Filtered to show only Special Interest GoLife Group hosted meetups.
Model-Specific GoLife Groups
Filtered to show a single Model type (Towables, Class-A, Class-B and Class-C), since most of you will be looking for meetups for your particular RV.
The GoLife Group name and a Notes section are displayed when you click on a meetup map icon. (So for instance if it shows "View/Navions only" and you're in an EKKO you can easily knock that off your list to explore further.)
For the special requested maps, please look at the map description to see the filtering done for that particular map. Finding that may vary a bit dependent upon what device you're using to view the map, but is typically via clicking the map title/name on the map display.
How do I navigate on these meetup maps?
These GoLife Group Meetups maps are using standard Google Sites and Google My Maps tools, so the same look/feel you're hopefully already comfortable with will work to zoom in/out, move around and filter with maps setup with "Layers".
There are significant differences in how devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) format and display both websites and Google My Maps. Detailed "how to" documentation is therefore not feasible or practical. However as a general tip, look for places to "click" to open up underlying information and options.
If you need additional help, YouTube videos are a great resource or you can email WinnebagoMeetups@gmail.com to request one-on-one assistance.
What's the deal with the map icons? Colors? Numbers? What's it all mean?
Custom map icons were created by a freelance graphic art designer so that:
The number designates the starting month of the meetup (1 through 12).
The color designates the GoLife Group Type on those maps. To find the GoLife Group Type on the "ALL Types of GoLife Groups" map you need to click to open the meetup to see all the data fields.
Note: The freelance graphic art designer was great to work with and I recommend him if you need business logos, images, etc. --> Patrick Cunningham at cunninghampatrick393@gmail.com
I'm on Apple device (phone, laptop, etc.)... Why isn't it working?
There have been some reports of Safari web browser on Apple devices not always "playing nice" with Google tools, which is our underlying technology. It should work, but reports are that it's inconsistent and sometimes if you try again it'll inexplicably start working again. If you have advice to share with others, please email that to WinnebagoMeetups@gmail.com so we can add that to this FAQ as the developer (Kathleen Hanson) has no Apple devices and therefore no hands-on experience dealing with these challenges.
Why isn't my meetup showing up on the map(s)?
Some possibilities:
Does it show on the main Winnebago GoLife Community Meetups Calendar found on the Winnebago GoLife Community web page?
If it shows there then it could be a simple timing issue, as there're some manual steps that may take a few days to get it from there to the map versions.
If it isn't on that Winnebago maintained Meetups Calendar, then it won't be on the maps. That's our sole source, in part because that information is already publicly viewable so we don't have to worry about getting permission to share or pesky data privacy complexities. Somebody (typically the meetup host) has to choose to submit it via the GoLife Community form to get on the Meetups Calendar which then feeds the maps!
Are you sure you're looking at the right map?
Some meetups may have multiple hosting GoLife Groups, so it'll show up on the maps under the first listed group's type.
One way to doublecheck this is to use the "All Types of GoLife Groups" map, and then zoom into the location of the meetup to look for a map icon which will show more details after you click on it.
If it's on Winnebago's GoLife Community Meetups Calendar and still missing from the maps a few days after the "Last Updated" date shown there, please report that to WinnebagoMeetups@gmail.com.
Note this is a Winnebago RV owner generated site, using publicly available information from Winnebago.com but not owned/managed by Winnebago.
