The Washtenaw elementary science olympiad is a competition where teams of students in grades 2-5 compete in a variety of events. Students are coached in an event of their choosing over about 10 weeks, then compete against teams of their peers from other schools.

The events range from very intellectual to very hands-on, with a great range. There's an event for everyone. The 2024 competition will be held at Pioneer High School on Saturday, April 20th. It's great fun, and a really positive experience for everyone involved. We also need coaches for many events; you don't need to be a specialist to coach events!

While only students in grades 2-5 are eligible to compete, all students are welcome to attend the WESO competition and award ceremonies. All students who join the Wines WESO team are expected to compete. Our philosophy at Wines is that the goal is not to bring home a medal, but rather to have a good overall experience.
