Wind Energy is simply any form of electrical energy that is obtained from harnessing the wind through wind mill or turbines.
Energy is created by wind turning the blades of the turbine around a rotor. That rotor is connected to a main shift that spins to generate electricity.
Harnessing our electrical power from the wind offers us a clean and renewable energy source. This means that we get the energy we need without burning harmful and nonrenewable fossil fuels.
It is very cost-effective. "Land-based, utility-scale wind turbines provide one of the lowest-priced energy sources today." (energy.gov)
They work well in rural and remote settings, such as Randolph County, WV.
The Wind Industry creates jobs. "There are over 125,000 people working in the U.S. wind industry across all 50 states, and that number continues to grow." (energy.gov)
Wind energy is both a domestic and economical asset. In 2022 wind turbines in all 50 states generated 10% of the net total of the country's energy, and $20 billion into the U.S. economy.
Wind energy can be hugely beneficial for local communites as much of the revenue generated goes to expanding school budgets, reducing taxes for homeowners, and adressing local infrastructure projects.
