But I like my interfaces to be in English, as well as the English language for Windows. However being in France, there is only french keyboards, so I need to keep the French keyboard layout. As well as date, time and numbers format.

observe, I have only one language in the language list, but however, in the Windows Display language list, I have two, the English and the French. Also, in the right column "Do you have the questions", the suggestions are in English... so, it's like a mix between the languages but it shouldn't be something like this.

I know it seems confusing, my last screenshot indicates my keyboard is French (Clavier Franais) but the language is "English (US)". I replaced the initial LANG/KEYBOARD from US/US to US/FR to have only one language - English, but the keyboard (as it physically is) keep French.

I've installed Windows 10 official release (not the preview) from Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and I've some problems with the language. My OS is in French but all my modern-ui apps (weather, store, calendar,...) are in English. I've W10 Professional and I precise that when I had W7, I had to set default language to French after the installation (this was an english version of Windows).Have you some ideas ?

It's a late answer, but when I had the same problem I solved it very quickly and easily.I live in Germany and love my OS to be in English. In order to achieve a full English OS, including apps, and a German keyboard layout I went into my locale settings (Settings => Time & Language => Region & Language) and first off moved English (which was set to override the OS language) to the top. Then I clicked on English, clicked on Options and directly clicked on Add a keyboard and selected the German keyboard layout. After that was set I removed the US keyboard layout and then had Windows 10 displaying in English, including all of the apps, with a German keyboard layout.

Input profiles (or input locales) describe the language of the input entered, and the keyboard on which it is being entered. When the first user logs into Windows and identifies their region, Windows sets the input profiles.

The input profiles are made up of a language identifier and a keyboard identifier. For example, the Arabic (Algeria) input profile is 1401:00020401, where 1401 is the hexadecimal identifier of the language Arabic (Algeria) (language tag ar-DZ) and 00020401 is the hexadecimal identifier of the Arabic (102) AZERTY keyboard.

When setting up new devices for your users, you can use the DISM commands: /Set-InputLocale or /Set-AllIntl to identify a default input profile. You can either select the input profile by its language and keyboard pair (1401:00020401) or you can use a language/region tag to receive the default settings for that language/region.

I updated Windows on my kids PC today, and it reverted back to the France French that was originally installed (not sure why when it should be Canadian French if anything, but that doesn't matter here). After a lot of trouble (why is it so difficult to change the language ...) I managed to get it to about 98% English ... except some things are comically wrong.

For example, in the settings where it asks where you want to install apps from, it gives a dropdown of sound devices, like headphones, and in the language settings, the Install button is labeled "Text-to-Speech", and the Cancel button is labeled "Install". That took a bit to figure out ...

Google results were not very helpful on solving the issue, and the MS live chat assistant closed the chat on me after they went to check on the issue for ten minutes. But it mostly works, so shrug? The problems are few and really only in certain settings windows. At least it isn't French anymore.

UWP apps use the the "primary" language as the app display language - so if you have English as the first language in system Settings, the app will use English as both Culture and UICulture and hence the formatting will match English as well.

Similar issues on OneNote on Mac ... even stranger ... when I set the proofing language of a page to Dutch, it will recognise all dutch language correctly. Then I add additional content to the page, and for the new content to stop being underlined, I have to go to the proofing language menu and "re-confirm" Dutch (even though the setting is showing Dutch correctly) to get the underlining of the (correct dutch) text removed ...

I got the same probleme but i've done everything that youve dsaid, all laguage should be correc My keyoard is in french my windows input language is in france office display and proofing language is in french but it still correct everything in english.

Same problem here. We have more letters in Norwegian so I won't change the keyboard settings. That would just mess up my writing. As a result of OneNote's lack of ability to permanently change one's language setting, within the app, without changing the keyboard, I need to choose my language every time I open a new tab.One lesser of two evils I guess.

Is this still a struggle? it is very annoying to be a multilingual user in OneNote (I want to use 5 or 6 languages). I have not found a way to set up The Detect language automatically option in OneNote yet. Can someone help me?

Use left alt and shift simultaneously (or Windows logo and space also works on windows 11) to open up the Windows hotkey to change language quickly. It's litterly the press of two buttons. By doing this you change your input language quickly and you don't have to compromise on your layout. Don't forget to add an second language in Windows otherwise you won't be able to switch back and forth via the hotkey.

Today I was also struggling to tell OneNote what language to do the proofing. What I realized in my case is that, if I created a new page on OneNote, then it worked fine but if the text was copy-pasted from another program (like Outlook, Teams chat, etc.) to OneNote, it worked wrongly.

You are now ready to use the new language. The display language changes will now reflect throughout the operating system, including the Sign-in screen, Settings app, File Explorer, Desktop, applications, browser so on.

One reason could be:

The mother language of a user is not english and he likes to take part in this forum. Than it would be helpful to switch to the english interface, because than he could use the correct names of functions and commands.

Actually on Mac, one can switch between English and French (or any other) by changing the Language & Region preferred language (just drag it to top of list) in the System Preferences pane. Does need to relaunch SU (not the Mac)

Problem is we can install only ONE other language at install. We need many so to make translating extensions easier, by a lot !

I made 2 more installs of SU, Italian & Spanish, copied their .lproj and strings files over to my main SU. Now I can launch SU in any of the 4 languages.

Dezmo gave you the right solution, but for your interest, all of the different language downloads for Mac SketchUp 2021 are identical, they all include all of the languages. They are repeated like that on the downloads page because older versions of SketchUp were language specific. What language you get is controlled by macOS.

Just to add, you can overrule the language setting per app, as well, but it (also) has to be set in the OS system Preferences, not in SketchUp itself.

This only takes a restart of SketchUp and not a total reboot of the system.

VS Code detects the operating system's UI language and will prompt you to install the appropriate Language Pack, if available on the Marketplace. Below is an example recommending a Simplified Chinese Language Pack:

Note: This topic explains how to change the display language in the VS Code UI via Language Packs such as French or Chinese. If you want to add programming language support, for example for C++ or Java, refer to the Programming Languages section of the documentation.

Use the Install additional languages... option to install more Language Packs from the Marketplace, or select a different locale from the list. Changing the locale requires a restart of VS Code. You will be prompted to restart when you select a locale.

Note: You must have the appropriate Language Pack installed for the language you specify with the command-line switch. If the matching Language Pack is not installed, VS Code will display English.

In rare cases, some users have reported that the Windows 10 operating system on Shadow is displayed in French. For help changing the Windows language from French, see the instructions below.

It's an Italian version of the VMWare software which means that the default language is Italian. I tried the method of changing the folder name of the files in the "messages" folder in order to get the software to default to English after rebooting VMWare. It just defaults to Italian.

Worse still I find that in the desktop "messages" folder there is only Japanese and Mandarin while in the virtual windows VMWare "messages" folder there is no English folder. There are instead German (de), French (fr), Spanish (es), Italian (it), Japanese (ja), Korean (ko), Mandarin (zh_CN), Taiwanese (zh_TW). (I may be wrong about the languages indicated by the abbreviations, but there is no (en)). I'm not sure why the Italians who installed it would go out of their way to eliminate English as an option, but I don't see it there.

I've also gone to the Control Panel/ Languages/ to set everything to English. It was already set to it. "Formato" is set to "Inglese (Stati Uniti)"; "Localita corrente" is set to "Stati Uniti"; under "Cambia Tastiere" it's set to "Inglese (Stati Uniti) - Stati Uniti"; and under "cambia impostazioni locali del Sistema" it's set to "inglese (Stati Uniti)". Everywhere in the Languages Control Panel. There's also an icon in the lower right corner of the Virtual Windows desktop screen that reads "EN" with a "hover-over" message of "Inglese (Stati Uniti)". However, when I open the "Copia Impostazioni" ("copy settings") tab it opens to a window that shows what language everything is in listed as such: 2351a5e196
