A brief introduction to my game
The player(s) attempts to wipe the soap off the windows whilst travelling uncontrollably up (you can move left and right) the building at an increasing speed to earn points. The player(s) earn 1 point for each soap they wipe off, and 10 points for wiping off the surprise soap, which has a star in the middle.
At the moment I have made one level that has a 1 player or 2 player mode. Player 1 uses A and D to move left and right, and player 2 uses the left and right arrow to move left and right. I plan to create more levels with increasing difficulty (falling objects that need to be avoided otherwise players will lose points, taller buildings etc.)
At the beginning of the game, the player(s) can press a series of buttons depending on how they wish to play, for example, 1 player mode or 2 player mode.
As I mentioned, player 1 can use A and D to move left and right, and player 2 can use the left arrow and right arrow to move left and right. They will need to have good hand-eye coordination, to help them advance through the game.
The player(s) must wipe the windows clean of soap/surprise soap while travelling at high (and increasing) speeds.
The window has randomly generating soap appear on the windows as the player(s) get further up the window. On the window are two types of soap, Inside some soap (called 'surprise soap') are stars. These are worth 9 points more than normal soap, at an amazing 10 points!
Potential bragging rights if they get a new high score.
At the moment the game can be played on a laptop/computer with a keyboard. I am hoping to have a choice at the beginning of the game depending on what device the player is using. I will add directional buttons if the player is playing on a touchscreen device (e.g. phone or tablet).
I have used Construct 3 to create 'Window Wiper'.
I 'winged' it!
Basically I made a person from behind, but it looked like a pigeon so I went with it. I'm rather pleased with my creation.
I added shading under the arms and around the neck to act as naturally occurring shadows. I also added a slightly see-through patch (by lowering the alpha of the colour) at the bottom, this will create a shadow under the trolley, this will make it appear to be casting a shadow underneath it as it goes up the building.
My initial character. I made some changes to this later on.
I created a building for the pigeon to clean
'Text' is a placeholder for the score
Blue lines to the left and right of the trolley stop the pigeon falling off
Orange area stops soap appearing
Green area stops trolley moving
Light blue rectangle is where the player is
Pigeon Wave
Pigeon wiper Motion
Pigeon Turn
Pigeon Victory
For my game, I needed a squeaking noise for the sound of the player wiping the windows, but I could not find one, so I decided to create my own. I have created audio before by using the Recorder app on my phone, and I did the same for my window wiping sound. I created the sound by wetting one of my windows, and dried it by pressing hard with a tea towel, and wiping the window.
This is my window wiping audio:
Unfortunately, there has been a problem uploading audio to google sites because google sites won't allow me to. Hopefully the problem can be fixed, but until then this message will continue to stay on this screen. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Recording my audio was quite easy, but adding it to my game was slightly harder, so I had to watch a tutorial for it. The tutorial I watched can be found on the Research page of this site.
I am very pleased with the sound that I made, as it was simple to create, and it was just the thing that I was looking for.
Next, I plan to add background music to my game, so that it doesn't just have a slightly annoying (but needed) squeaky wiping noise. I am hoping that I will find a catchy, upbeat tune, that will make the game more fun.
