Join Lakeside Buddha Sangha for Half-Day of Mindfulness January 15, 2023

Each year for the past six years in January, Lakeside Buddha Sangha in Evanston, Ill., has paused to reflect on the intersecting lives and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Thich Nhat Hanh, who collaborated together in efforts to bring an end to the Vietnam War and respect all life. It has been a wonderful way to enjoy appreciate the meaning of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend.

This year, Lakeside would like to offer a virtual half-Day of Mindfulness on Sunday, January 15, beginning at 1 p.m. and concluding at approximately 5 p.m.. Dharma teachers Jack and Laurie Lawlor will offer periods of sitting meditation, a Dharma Talk, and group discussion.

After sharing Thay’s famous poem, “Please Call Me By My True Names”, Jack and Laurie will explore the full depth of the poem, and how the life and teachings of Dr. King and Thich Nhat Hanh enrich our ability to live in an insightful manner that nourishes our seeds of understanding, compassion and love even in the midst of challenges.

If you would like to participate, please email Jack before Tuesday, January 10. He'll then provide by email the necessary link and supporting materials for the January 15 event.
