Broadly speaking I'm looking for at least a moderate gish with some sort of a manoeuvrability feature I can flavour as wind blasting around, and some spellcasting. But though there's plenty of movement options, they all seem to either not work well for a gish, or expend too rare a resource to be used consistently. How would you make this work?

Back when i played wind mages were pretty rare, since their skills come solely from INT instead of the combination of SPD + ATK, while wind mages have a slightly higher multiplier, that's easily beaten the moment you get DS for a fighter. Overall the only advantage i see of a wind knight (Mage) is if you're going solely for speed+Seal, otherwise i'd recommend sticking to fighter.

Zero. Cant a wind mage have ds also ? how would a fighter ds differ from a mage? I know for fire ds is a assist move is this the same for wind? if it is i dont see what difference it would make. Thank You for your input:)

If You want Your Wind to be a Good Attacker with High Damage then i recommend you to reduce AGI and add more STR and Get a Swift Saddle to recover your SPD because in my openion best thing about winds are their spd ! :)

Plus if you use Swift Saddle with Wind Knights it absorbs 1/2 of the riding pet not 1/3 so , if your pet got 1000 Spd you will take 500 Spd from it not 300 as normal. :)
