The seventh iteration of Women in Numbers will be held June 14-June 19, 2025, at the Banff International Research Station. The workshop will bring together established researchers, junior faculty, and advanced graduate students for a week of research collaboration on projects on a wider range of topics in number theory.

We welcome project proposals from researchers across all of number theory, both for project groups that will run in person at BIRS and for project groups that will run virtually. Virtual projects play a valuable role in supporting researchers who may not be able to travel to BIRS (e.g., for visa reasons, care responsibilities, funding, etc.), so we encourage potential project leaders to consider virtual projects as an option.
In selecting projects, organizers will consider mathematical areas, mathematical background required, and how the project and leaders will support the goals of the Women in Numbers workshops. We aim to have a diversity of projects so that we can accommodate participants from many backgrounds and have a good representation of different career stages and types of careers among project leaders. We encourage applications from first-time project leaders.
Projects for WIN7 have been selected. We sincerely thank all those who submitted proposals.
We are pleased to announce the following projects for WIN7:
Kundu and Műller: Iwasawa theory of graphs
Hamieh and Kadiri: Explicit estimates for second moments of degree 2 L-functions
Bhowmik and Tucker: Arithmetic statistics of cotypes of sublattices
Devin and Kuperberg: Weighted correlations of sums of two squares
Coppola and de Frutos Fernández: Formalizing local-to-global results in Lean
Fedosova and Klinger-Logan: Computing the spectrum of operators on Gamma\H
Andrews and Manes: Non-archimedean dynamics of iterated preimages
Malik and Vatwani: The second moment of twisted modular L-functions
Liu and Viray: Symmetric products and restriction of scalars
Participant applications for Women in Numbers 7 (WIN 7) are now open, and we would like to encourage you to apply! WIN 7 will be held at Banff International Research Station in Banff, Canada from June 14 - 18, 2026.
The WIN 7 workshop is primarily focused on collaborative research projects composed of 2 leaders and 2--4 participants.
The application form can be accessed here. Applicants will answer questions about their mathematical background, research interests, project preferences (project titles, leaders, and descriptions are linked within the application), and how their interest and participation fits with the goals of the WIN network. Graduate student applicants are asked to have their advisor submit a brief letter of reference by email.
More information to come!
