Women in Maths is a student-led group focused on celebrating diversity and inclusion within the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London, through various events run throughout the year.
Most of our events are open to all interested students at Imperial College London. Some of our events are exclusively for women* – we will make a special note of this in such cases.
Compete individually or in teams to win points across various different rounds, for various areas of expertise. Prizes to be won, and pizza for everyone!

Abstract: In this talk, I will give you a glimpse into one of the most ambitious projects in pure mathematics, called the Langlands program. The Langlands program aims to connect number theory to other areas, such as algebraic geometry and harmonic analysis. At the same time, it is related to some of the oldest and deepest questions about the integers, from quadratic reciprocity to Fermat's last theorem. I will discuss the law of quadratic reciprocity and give examples of higher-dimensional, non-abelian generalisations.
