Willow Roots, like the winding branches of life, represent the magical journey where each twist and turn unveils the whimsy and wonder of everyone's unique story.
My real name is Julia Boardman, though most know me as Miss Jules. For twenty years, I had the privilege of teaching a wide range of age groups, from infants as young as six weeks old to energetic eighth graders. Throughout my career, I’ve taught across all subject areas, giving me the opportunity to engage with diverse learning styles and developmental stages. This broad experience has not only sharpened my teaching skills but also deepened my understanding of the varied needs and interests of young learners. Through my books, I hope to reach an even wider audience, inspiring readers of all ages with stories that resonate beyond the classroom.
Throughout my journey as an educator, I have consistently been inspired by the wonders of science, especially astronomy and physics. These subjects ignite my imagination and find their way into my writing, as I seek to inspire children to explore the fascinating world around them. Drawing from my strong musical background, I craft engaging rhymes and captivating stories that not only entertain but also educate and spark curiosity.
Influenced by the timeless works of Dr. Seuss, whose books played a pivotal role in my language acquisition as a child, I aim to create stories that encourage this language development and the love of reading. Much like how my mother, unable to speak English, sat beside us and read those books, I strive to create literary experiences that transcend language barriers and fuel the joy of learning.
My life has been shaped by challenges that I’ve turned into sources of strength. Surviving childhood cancer, enduring sexual and narcissistic abuse, navigating a blended and dysfunctional family with half-siblings and adoption, and being raised by a father who served twenty-one years in the military have given me a unique perspective on resilience. These experiences have taught me to approach sensitive topics with empathy, love, and a deep sense of hope. Through my writing, I seek to offer readers a glimpse of how adversity can be overcome with courage and how it can transform us in beautiful ways.
Born in Germany and raised on 200 acres in the heart of southern Missouri, my upbringing was deeply intertwined with the natural world. I later moved to Pennsylvania to pursue a teaching career, and eventually, life led me to my current home in Ecuador. This journey has helped me cultivate a profound appreciation for nature’s wonders and the transformative power of stepping into new environments. Each place I’ve lived has left an indelible mark on me, deepening my connection to the earth and broadening my understanding of the world’s beauty and diversity.
My move to Ecuador was initially planned around helping to open a healing center and studying Reiki and massage, but it soon became much more—a journey of profound spiritual transformation. I encountered a world of angels and demons, even the devil himself, and through these experiences, I discovered my true purpose: to bring light to the darkness. This awakening showed me that God is my father and Earth is my mother, and it ignited a calling within me to use my voice and my stories to guide others toward healing and enlightenment. Through my books, I weave these spiritual discoveries into narratives that inspire reflection and growth in readers of all ages. It has also inspired me to create my own Oracle and Tarot cards, which you can explore on my Oracles and Tarot page.
