Jo will teach the rib-style (frame) related classes. Beginners will learn the basic rib-style techniques that will enable you to create a wide variety of basket forms - from handles and rims, to lashings, scalloming, slyping, and shaving, to shaping with ribs. Experienced students can pick basket projects to further challenge their basket skills. Jo has developed many variations of rib-style baskets including a backpack, fishing creel, several styles of purses and work baskets. Her travels abroad working with weavers in other countries has added to the many techniques she uses in her baskets. Limited to 5 students.

Joanna will teach the traditional Amana Colony style and English stake and strand willow classes. She is a wealth of information on variation of weave patterns, starting bases, handles, lids, shaping, fancy work, removable bottom rims and a large variety of basket shapes and styles. Laundry baskets, apple pickers, market baskets, fishing creels, and picnic baskets, are among the many styles she has mastered. Her weaving skills are an important link in passing on the basketry heritage of the Amana Colonies. Limited to 4 students.
