Getting to Tocal:
Detailed information will be provided here soon.
Things to do before/after the conference:
Paterson (closest train station to Tocal) has a nice large park next to the river, a couple of cafes, a bar and a small supermarket.
Eaglereach Wilderness Resort is about a 20-30min drive from Tocal and is accessible by a two-wheel-drive car. It is at the the top of a large hill (about 300-400m above sea level). The drive from Tocal to the bottom of the hill is about 15-20min. The drive to the top will take another 10min or so. At the top there are great views and some short hiking tracks. There is also accommodation at the top. See for example https://eaglereach.com.au/accommodation/ You do not need to book accomodation to visit Eaglereach.
Dungog about 30min drive away from Tocal, nice location for walking, running and mountainbiking.
Hunter Valley wineries
Barrington Tops National Park is further afield, “Ladies Well” is a popular swimming location and “Williams River Picnic area” are about an hour drive from Tocal and popular destinations right on the edge of Barrington Tops National Park. These are accessible by two-wheel-drive cars too if the roads aren’t flooded.
