Recipient of Netanya Municipality Outstanding Volunteer Award
Netanya Willing Hands was formed in the early 1980s by a small group of English speaking olim living in the Netanya area. They identified a significant gap in Israeli social welfare as well as delays with the distribution of funds to the residents in most need. To help close this gap, and to quickly get funds to those in need, Netanya Willing Hands was established.
Today, over 40 years since its formation, the demand for help from Netanya Willing Hands has continued to increase.
I was born in Manchester many years ago. Married a London ’boy’ in 1964 and lived in London until we made Aliyah in 2007. I was involved in many charities, including Bnei Brith and Victim Support. I worked in the Probation Service and Crown Court for 25 years and then had a career change and taught adult literacy and basic English for about 12 years. I was a Magistrate in a local court for several years up until we made Aliyah. Soon after coming to Israel I joined Netanya Willing Hands and the rest, as they say, is history.
I have 2 sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I worked in clothing manufacturing for many years, then made a career change into Financial Planning in 1992. In November 2019, after my husband died, I decided to make Aliyah to Israel to join one of my sons and his family. I had no sooner landed in Israel when I was introduced to Netanya Willing Hands.
I joined the committee because I liked their concept of immediate help for financially struggling people of Netanya.
I came on Aliyah in 1988 with my late husband Allan ז"ל and two married children. Since then, I now have 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with more on the way. I have been involved with Netanya Willing Hands for 15 years and I know I have helped so many people in Netanya and I have a good feeling to know I have made a small difference to so many lives.
I was born and lived in Dublin and made Aliyah with my husband Adrian in 2004. Two of our four sons live in Israel.
Since making aliyah I have been a volunteer in a variety of organisations. Even though I had been a long-time supporter of Netanya Willing Hands, when I joined the committee in 2022 I was in disbelief to learn of the level of poverty and distress in Netanya – there are so many who need our help.
I made aliyah from London in 2022 with my husband. We are now living in Ramat Poleg and are very pleased to be living closer to our two children and 9 grandchildren.
I am a retired social worker having worked with children and families in the UK for over 40 years both in statutory and voluntary social services organisations. For the last 15 years of my career I specialised in Adoption and Fostering.
My husband Mike & I made our aliyah from Sydney in September 2023 just before the war. We now live in Agamim, Netanya. We both have family living in Israel. We have 2 grown-up children - our daughter is married and lives in Texas; and our son in Sydney. We like to travel and explore new places.
I have spent many years working with disabled and disadvantaged people. I am looking forward to bringing my past experience in community services to Netanya Willing Hands and to help those most in need in Netanya.
I am a retired Senior IT Executive and a keen golfer. I was born and grew up in Dublin. After completing my tertiary studies I moved to Sydney where I met and married my wife Lianne. We made our aliyah in September 2023.
Over the years I have been actively involved in various Jewish community groups. I have now joined the NWH committee with Lianne and together with the rest of the committee we hope can raise the profile and generate additional revenue for the very needy in Netanya.
