About Me - Nathaniel Williams
Hi, my name is Nathaniel Williams, and I’m proud to call Cheyenne, Wyoming my home. I’m 19 years old and a proud graduate of Cheyenne East High School, Class of 2023 — forever a Thunderbird!
Since graduating, I’ve been deeply involved in advocacy and leadership. From December 2023 to July 15, 2024, I worked as the Outreach Coordinator for a nonprofit organization, where I was able to connect with my community and help amplify youth voices. After that, I stepped into my current role as President of the Wyoming Youth Advisory Council (WYAC). I dedicate more than 14 hours each week (often much more) to leading this council because I care deeply about the foster youth we represent. My work is driven by personal experience — I spent seven years in the foster care system before being adopted in 2019 by my amazing dad, Larry, and my incredible moms, Bonnie and Michelle Williams. Yes — they are a powerful, loving lesbian couple who’ve shown me what unconditional love and support truly means. Together, we are a big, blended, and beautiful family.
In addition to my work with WYAC, I serve as a Youth Advisor on the Shiloh House Advisory Board in Colorado, where I help guide the treatment programs for youth in care. I’m also honored to be appointed by Governor Mark Gordon as a Youth Advisory Member on the Wyoming State Advisory Council on Juvenile Justice (SACJJ). Every three months, I travel to different cities across Wyoming to learn how juvenile justice is handled in each community. Every January, our council meets in Cheyenne to present recommendations directly to the Governor on how to improve Wyoming’s juvenile justice system.
On a national level, I’m proud to serve as a National and State Spokesperson for AdoptUSKids.org, alongside my dad, Larry. Together, we advocate for the importance of adopting teenagers from foster care. In 2024, I traveled to Washington, D.C. multiple times, as well as to New York City to film a PSA for AdoptUSKids. One of the highlights of my year was attending the National Adoption Month Celebration at the Hubert H. Humphrey Building, the headquarters for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The event, hosted by The Administration for Children and Families, was an incredible experience where I met leaders like Rebecca Jones Gaston, Former Commissioner of the Administration on Children, Youth, and Families.
Looking ahead, my passion for public service and advocacy is only growing. My dream is to help elect the next Governor of Wyoming and hopefully serve as their Executive Assistant. From there, I want to work on a Presidential Campaign, helping elect a new President of the United States, and possibly serve as an Executive Assistant to the President or in another key leadership role at the White House.
In the future, I plan to run for the Wyoming State Senate or House of Representatives, followed by a campaign to become Wyoming’s Secretary of State. Eventually, I want to run for Governor of Wyoming — and after that, work in a future presidential administration as U.S. Secretary of State or Secretary of Health and Human Services. My ultimate dream is to run for President of the United States and make history as the first President from Wyoming.
I know these are big dreams — but with hard work, dedication, and my passion for helping others, I believe anything is possible. No matter what, my goal will always be to make life better for youth, families, and communities across Wyoming and the United States.

My Work as the President of the Wyoming Youth Advisory Council (WYAC)
I started my journey with the Wyoming Youth Advisory Council (WYAC) in 2023, at a time when the Council had no leadership, no clear structure, and very little direction. Despite the challenges, I stayed involved because I believed in the potential of what WYAC could become.
I’m incredibly grateful to Brian, who saw something in me — potential I didn’t always see in myself. He had faith in me and encouraged me to step up, ultimately giving me the opportunity to serve as an Ambassador to the Council. Without Brian’s push, guidance, and unwavering support, I wouldn’t be in the role I am today. I truly wouldn’t be the person I am now without his belief in me, and for that, I am forever thankful.
On November 20, 2023, I made an important call to Szaber Parker, asking him to serve as the Vice President of WYAC. Then, on December 31, 2023, the Council officially voted, electing Williams and Parker as President-elect and Vice President-elect.
In June 2024, we were sworn into office, not just as President and Vice President, but alongside an incredible team that included our Chief of Staff, Secretary, and many passionate Youth Members who care deeply about the future of foster youth in Wyoming. That moment — being sworn in with my peers — was nothing short of amazing.
Since stepping into the role of President, we have hit the ground running. Together, we’ve worked on strengthening community engagement, developing a Youth Bill of Rights, and working on numerous projects that will ensure youth voices are heard across Wyoming.
This is just the beginning, and I’m excited to see how much further we can go. With the incredible team around me and the support of mentors like Brian, I know WYAC will continue to grow, and together we’ll create lasting change for foster youth in our state.
