Physical or Digital
Let them be as pencils
always used, shared, bought
but needing to be sharpened
I’d rather be a computer
access to everything, like a library
plugged into a database
To have been carved from wood
to scratch, to slide over the paper
To be manufactured in a factory
millions of exact clones, but only eleven with me
traveling all over the world and even in space
I’d rather be digital
than to be sharpened, recycled
most often wasted and thrown away
where it is forgotten and erased from history
by countless dumps and landfills
I’d rather be fed power
than to be a pile of forgotten wood
If I could access everything, flawlessly and efficiently,
I’d rather be a powerful computer.
One of my assignments for my identity unit in English is the identity poem. Using the poem "Identity" by Julio Noboa Polanco, I developed my own poem similar to that. I chose a symbol that represented me and an opposing symbol: a pencil and a computer. One of my daily dilemmas involves whether I should do something physically or digitally. Each method had its advantages and drawbacks.
This is my self feature that I created for Video Production. While creating this video, I discovered a lot about myself. I found out what I truly enjoyed in life, what motivated me, and what hobbies I had. I found out that I enjoyed creating things on my computer. Whether it was editing a video, playing the piano, creating graphics, editing photos, or just playing games, I like it all. I especially enjoyed creating this video.
