Record of Service in World War 2
RECORD OF SERVICE WORLD WAR 2 - Our Uncle Bill had I believe, quite a unique experience in the RAAF during WW2. When the USAAF starting arriving in our theatre of war they were short of qualified air crew therefore some Australian personal were assigned to fly with them. Bill was one of a small group of Australians that flew with the USAAF 408 Bomb group that flew at that time the Lockheed Martin B26 Martin Marauder. A controversial plane that did not have a long service history in this theatre of war. I can find little material on Australian pilots flying with the USAAF and also little about the B26's exploits in this theatre, but then I am not a researcher.

Photo's are all captioned so double click to open and then use drawbar to enlarge if required. (Worked on my computer but not on a tablet....bugger)) Check the menu at the top of page RHS. I may add his private photo's as well as they may be of interest to family and some others. It turns out that one of our sons also flew with the #1 Australian Squadron, a big swell factor.
