My latest hobby is learning Spanish. I traveled to San Miguel in May 2023 with WNCC Global Studies. 2 weeks of intensive Spanish while living with a host family. It was a great trip! We had many adventures along the way. Good food, pre Aztec pyramids, music, Ballet Folklorica, lots of churches and history.
I went to Barcelona, Spain in May 2025. Again, a fabulous trip. You don't have to even know Spanish to go on these trips, the schools have classes that start at the beginners level. I have been studying Spanish for 3 years, and am still at the beginner's level. Practice, practice, practice!
Going to San Miguel in 2023 literally changed my life. I had never traveled out of the country before that. I highly recommend traveling outside the country with any of WNCC's Global Studies opportunities. I learned so much on my trips abroad. This summer's travels might include Italy and Greece with Global Studies, Puerto Rico, and maybe a train trip to the west coast. Stay Tuned!
Since I was very young and known as "Billy" bouncing on my Mom's knee, I have loved music. I have a BFA in Music Education. Part of that training is learning all the instruments, not well, but I can play pretty much anything. My major instrument in college was Percussion, I played in Rock, Country, Swing, Polka and other types of bands. I played drum set last summer with Theatre West for Bright Star. I am current playing drum set with the Fire in the Pan Swingers (WNCC Jazz Band.) I do sit in with concert band on percussion when needed.
My newest instrument is the Ukulele. One of my students mentioned they were working on learning the Ukelele, which prompted me trying it. I already play guitar, banjo, mandolin, etc. It was an easy transfer of knowledge to pick up the Ukulele. I find it very fun, and easy to carry any where. You may see me playing it around campus this semester.

During the summer I love working outside in my garden and yard. I live out in the country on a 1 acre plot. Pickled beets are one of my favorite results of my garden.
