As a lighting technician my job is to understand found the the lighting rig functions, from placing the physical light in the grid in giving it the correct signal to function. my job is to also understand how to to program the light and operate them so that I can design a show files the lighting producer wants for the show and be able to operate the lights for the show.
I also need to be able to understand the risks involved in light, that covers are the lights going to be safe to work there placed on the floor to are they secured correctly in the rig with the correct procurations in place if they fall.
starting of with a list of all the different types of lights that we have in the theatre.
we have four of these diamond 19's in the racking. that 19 is designed to make a wide and clearly defined wash on the stage in a wide range of cullers. they have 19 in the name because of the 19 large LED'S in the light. and the intensity of the beam is quite high.
The diamond 7's are very similar in design to the 19's with 3 key differences, the 7s have 7 LED's in them instead of 19, the zoom is between 6° - 66° and the the intensity isn't as high as the 19.
Mini Pointe is a tiny agile beam. the Light is designed to produce sharp beam and aerial effects. This light has around 6000 hours use out of the fixture. It can form spot light beams, up to 3 degrease and can change its colour and shape for what the performance needs.
We also have some Fresnel lights and profile lights.
Fresnel's are a type or light we use to make a flush on stage for a general light or can also be used to make a general flash. there only turn on and off and don't move.
Pofile lights a very similar in but there use is different. were the Fresnel's are made for lighting up the stage, profiles are used to create spotlights for actors.
