Who can attend?
All Willard family members, relatives, spouses, partners, and friends are welcome to attend. Whether you've attended many reunions or this is your first, we'd love to have you join us.
Do I need to attend the entire weekend?
Nope! You're welcome to attend as much or as little of the reunion as works for your schedule.
Why is there a registration fee?
The registration fee helps cover the cost of museum admissions, Friday lunch, coffee and pastries, printed materials, and other reunion expenses. Our goal is simply to make the weekend possible while keeping costs reasonable for attendees.
The reunion is organized entirely by volunteers, and fees are used to support the shared experiences that bring us together throughout the weekend.
What is included in my registration fee?
Registration includes:
Friday Morning Coffee + Pastries
Francis Willard House Museum Private Tour
Halim Time & Glass Museum Private Tour
Friday Lunch
Family Storytelling Session
Optional activities, lodging, transportation, and most meals are not included.
What is not included?
The following are optional and paid separately by attendees:
Lodging
Transportation
Chicago Architecture Boat Tour
Chicago Cubs Game
Optional Meals
Where should I stay?
We recommend staying in Evanston whenever possible, as most reunion activities take place in Evanston or nearby on Chicago's North Side. Additional lodging recommendations can be found in the Guidebook.
Do I need a rental car?
No. Most attendees will be able to get around using a combination of walking, rideshare services, CTA trains, and Metra. A rental car is optional. There is even a bus that will take you from O'Hare to downtown Evanston!
Which airport should I fly into?
Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) is the closest major airport to Evanston and is generally the most convenient option.
Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) is also an option but is located farther from reunion activities.
Are children welcome?
Absolutely. Family members of all ages are welcome to attend.
Can I share family photos, stories, or artifacts?
Yes! One of the highlights of the reunion will be our Family Storytelling session.
You're welcome to bring:
Family Photographs
Letters and Documents
Heirlooms
Genealogy Materials
Family Stories and Memories
I've never attended a Willard Family Reunion before. Will I know anyone?
Maybe—and if not, that's okay too!
Many attendees will be meeting relatives for the first time. The reunion is designed to be welcoming, informal, and easy to join. We look forward to introducing new family members and helping everyone feel at home.
Will there be a way to stay connected during the weekend?
Yes. A reunion WhatsApp group will be available for attendees to receive updates, coordinate rides, organize meals, and stay connected throughout the weekend.
What will the weather be like?
Late August in the Chicago area is typically warm, with temperatures in the 70s and 90s. Occasional summer rain showers and thunderstorms are possible.
Who should I contact with questions?
