Will Cherico has known he's wanted to be a writer/director since he was 14 years old. In freshman year of high school he wrote and directed the film "Mexican Standoff," a comedy that was selected for showing at the All American High School Film Festival. With Darien High School's Filmmakers Club (which he was president of for two years), Will made six low-budget short films that demonstrated his wit, knack for unique and strange stories, and ability to work with any resources and crew available to him.
Will's filmmaking journey continued into college when he studied Cinema and Photography at Ithaca College. He made three goulish horror shorts that solidified his desire to tell stories that could excite and spark the imagination. His thesis film, "Peep & Chatter," is currently being submitted to film festivals. In his final semester at Ithaca College, Will studied in Los Angeles and interned with Rugged Entertainment as a Creative Development Intern. He worked in a writer's room, researched topics and wrote short scripts, and did coverage on submitted film scripts. Now that he's graduated, he's excited to work further in the film industry.
At the moment Will is submitting his student thesis film, Peep & Chatter, to film festivals around the country. It's a horror film about a man who's drawn into the mystery surrounding a cursed kid's show starring the sinister Mr. Peep and Ms. Chatter. He's also been working on a feature-length version of the script which he hopes to have finished by the end of 2025.Â
