Trombone

The Trombone is a member of the brass family. It has a lower range and tone that make up part of the low brass sections. The Trombone is a cylindrical brass instrument that is played by blowing into the mouthpiece and making a "buzzing" sound to create sound. The trombone does not have valves like the other brass instruments in the band. Instead it has a slide the the player moves assist changing the pitch while playing. The slide is what makes the trombone unique and the slide also helps make cool sound effects! We normally have between 15 - 20 students selected to play the trombone in our 6th grade Wiley band! The majority of our trombone players take private lessons although it is not required for this instrument. trombone players read the bass clef and normally plays the harmony(or the supporting parts) in music. The trombone color is very important to the band sound! Listen to the 3 short videos below to see if the trombone could be one of your top picks for band next year!
