Percussion
Being a member of the percussion sections is more than just learning how to play the drums or be a "drummer." The world of percussion is very vast and percussionist will learn how to play a lot of different percussion instruments over their middle school and high school years. Beginner percussionist will focus on 2 main instruments - the marimba and a practice pad. The techniques learned on these instruments will help build and create a foundation that will transfer to any other percussion instrument. Students will have opportunities in ensembles to play fun and very unique sounding percussion instruments. Listen to these examples below to see what the world of percussion is like! For those that are interested in picking percussion there is a separate evaluation with our percussion director. Students that pick percussion will also need to try out the other band instruments and have a second option because this is a very selective group with specific requirements.

Fandango 13
