Cummings House

Alistair Knox was one of Australia’s most influential postwar designers of Bush-integrated architecture. A self-taught builder and designer, whose ethos included /livability, site preservation, and repurposing, his work defined the Eltham mudbrick movement which emphasized handmade construction and the use/repurposing of local materials. A classic case in point here with the Cummings House overlooking the Birrayung (Yarra) River in Melbourne’s bushland suburb of North Warrandyte built in 1968. More recently the home - now known as Riverbend - was restored by @vaughan_howard_architects as part of the Garambi Baanj Cultural Precinct
