the story of wildwood
the story of wildwood
Wildwoood Studio in Duncan, has been a part of the Cowichan Valley on beautiful Vancouver Island for over 20 years. It all started on her driveway in the early 90's with Avril selling fresh vegetables from her garden and then potted plants and hanging baskets. Inspired by her daughter's artistic talents, she hung a sign over her garage that read "Georgia's Flowers", welcoming customers during the summer months.
That modest beginning expanded into selling at local markets around the Cowichan Valley, and conducting succulent workshops for summer programs in Victoria. Avril has been a part of the Cowichan Valley Craft Crawl since its inception during COVID, and has also enjoyed her experience as a vendor at The Nest in Duncan and Vintage Storm in Arbutus Ridge.
Over the years, Wildwood Studio has grown into a specialty garden shopping experience, still based in Avril's garage. She has refined her craft, using unique vintage pieces, handcrafted wooden boxes, and unusual and surprising ways to give new life to succulents and seasonal flowers.
This past Winter, Avril welcomed her sister Leslie, and her new business binns soap & candle to be a part of the Wildwood experience. Together they created a Christmas shoppe in Avril's studio and for the first time, Wildwood Studio was open for the Christmas season. It added an indoor experience for shoppers, expanding the business once again.
