Yukon Winter Tour (Eight Days) _by Wilderness Recreation Centre Inc

Itinerary Overview:

Day One: Whitehorse We will greet you at Whitehorse airport and drive you to one of the best hotels - 202 Motor Inn. After a little rest, your guide will take you to explore Whitehorse - the capital city of Yukon and a quiet and beautiful northern town of Canada. You will see the ancient church made from old wood, the Main Street, the Public Library, the old train, the Game Centre and the famous Klondike steamer of the Gold Rush era. Day Two: Dog Sledding We will drive you to the snow fields where you will experience the thrill of dog sledding. You will learn how to drive your own dog team and enjoy the fun of flying over the snow with your furry friends. When you return to the tent, you will feed and take care of your lovely dogs. The local tour guide will share with you their knowledge and stories of the Yukon. When you are going to fall asleep in the tent on the wild Arctic field, you may hear the howl of a wolf. Day Three: Ice Fishing Explore the wilderness of the Yukon and experience ice fishing. You will drill a hole in the frozen lake and try to catch some fish. At night, we will make a bonfire and cook our catch. Enjoy the happiness of eating your own-caught fish under the starry sky. Day Four: Snowmobile Driving Ride snowmobiles on the icy and beautiful Fish Lake and feel the adrenaline rush of speeding through the snow. At night, you will enjoy the Takhini Hot Spring, where you can relax yourself in the warm water surrounded by snow. In the heated Green Villa Restaurant, with hot drinks and snacks, you will watch the mystery and magic of the Northern Lights. Enjoy the spectacular dance patterns they weave across the night sky. Day Five: Airplane Experience the excitement of flying in the air and viewing the Marsh Lake and the beautiful Yukon River - the northernmost river in the world. You can also drive by yourself to get a different perspective of this wild land. In the heated Green Villa Restaurant, with hot drinks and snacks, you will watch the mystery and magic of the Northern Lights again. Around 2:00 am we will drive back to 202 Motor Inn to sleep. Day Six: Wild Animals Visit the Yukon Wildlife Sanctuary, where you will see most of the wild animals that live in Yukon, such as moose, caribou, bison, Dall sheep, bighorn sheep, musk oxen and more. You will learn about their habitats, behaviors and adaptations to survive in this harsh environment. Lunch and dinner: Green Villa Restaurant on Takhini Hot Spring Road Night: 202 Motor Inn

Day Seven: Snowshoeing Trip Put on warm and comfortable snowshoes and follow along the path of the former gold rush. On the way, you will see numerous relics of that era and you can take pictures with them. You will also visit a gift shop where you may want to buy some souvenirs. Day Eight: Yukon Airport End of the trip. We will drive you to the airport and hope you have a good journey back to your country. We will miss you!


Remark:

1.The average temperature in winter during this period ranges from -2°C to -24°C, but it may drop as low as -45°C or -50°F in extreme cases. You are advised to bring sufficient clothing for the cold weather. You also have the option to purchase or rent winter clothing from Yukon Travel agency in Whitehorse.

2.Due to the adventurous nature of this winter travel, we may have to alter the itinerary according to the weather and road conditions. For the safety of everyone, we reserve the right to modify the travel itinerary at our discretion.
