Kin & Kinder

Wildlings Kin & Kinder is a joyful, play-based nature program for kids ages 18 months to 4 years old and a caregiver of their choice.

*This program takes place in Bloomsburg, PA at the Bloomsburg Town Park.*

What's a typical day like at camp?

After arrival, kids will free play until everyone arrives. We will then gather around and sing our Good Morning, Dear Earth song, a traditional Waldorf morning song:

“Good morning, dear earth

Good morning, dear sun

Good morning, dear resting stones

And beast on the run.

Good morning, dear flowers

And birds in the trees

Good morning to you

Good morning to me.”

We will pause for a beat of gratitude and then share what we are thankful for. We will then play a nature-based sensory game like Fox Feet, where kids pretend to be foxes and sneak to steal a noisy set of keys while the Key Keeper sits, eyes closed, listening for the 'foxes' and try to catch them before the keys are stolen.

The bulk of the day is allowing kids to explore nature and playing with each other, caregivers around to monitor and encourage inquiry but mostly, taking a 'back seat.' There will be several nature provocations set up: shovels next to a mud patch to dig for worms or rocks piled up next to the creek to build a dam. Kids will discover them on their own and play. Or not. Kids may have their own ideas for play, and that is very good, too. As Dr. Maria Montessori says, "Play is the work of the child."

To close, we will gather again and share about our day and sing our closing song:

“The wind will blow, will blow, will blow.

The wind will blow, it will.

And you will grow and grow and grow.

And I will love you still.”
