RootSpeak Studio | Family Bookmaking Series

Bronx Council on the Arts — 2026 Community Engagement Grant

I co-founded RootSpeak Studio with my collaborator and best friend. In 2026, RootSpeak Studio was awarded a Community Engagement Grant from the Bronx Council on the Arts for a family bookmaking series at the Baychester Library honoring the centennial of Black History Month — a program rooted in a pilot we ran at the same library in February 2025.

The pilot was a free, open community event held during Black History Month, where adult participants gathered to explore bookmaking as a way to honor and document Black history and personal memory. The response from the community informed the vision for the full grant-funded series.

Mixed Media & Collage

I have facilitated mixed media and collage workshops at Riverstone Senior Center, creating a space where older adults explore personal memory and creative expression through layered materials, color, and storytelling.

Benchmarks Program | CEI Teaching Artist

After-School Social Justice Mural Project

As a teaching artist with CEI, I lead the Benchmarks program — an after-school initiative where students design and paint social justice murals on park benches. Each bench is installed in a public park, bringing student voices into the community, before returning to their school as a lasting reminder of their creative impact.
