At Wild Friends, kids get to revel in outdoor free play. Through their self-directed wilderness adventures, risks and challenges naturally arise, which invite our kids to engage their self reliance, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and forge powerful connections.
We can accommodate 8-12 kids per session.
Session 1: June 16-20
Session 2: June 23-27
Session By Demand: TBD
Session Z : Last week of summer for Philadelphia Schools (TBD)
Our program centers around the idea that children learn best through play. We provide a supportive environment where kids can explore the wilderness, create their own adventures, and discover the joys of the natural world. From building forts, to observing wildlife, and engaging in outdoor games, our campers lead the way in their exploration and play.
When any of us find ourselves in our normal human knots of conflict or misunderstanding, it's all hands on deck. At WF, we teach the STORY model of peer mediation. We leverage group intelligence to cooperatively imagine avenues to resolution and we also like to "rewind and redo" to habituate more collaborative and kind communication habits.
Our program is rooted in Quaker spirituality and ethics. Each day includes opportunity for connection and group decision making. In the beautiful Pennsylvania woods, we practice being present with ourselves and all the living beings around us. This time helps children regulate their nervous systems and build familiarity with their own inner stillness & peace.
