Tyona McGee-Ezeilo began her path to becoming a mindfulness teacher, in part, due to the way her mindfulness practice was enhancing her capacity to engage in life with greater awareness. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and educated in NY, NH, and NJ.
Tyona is a developmental consultant, trainer, mindfulness teacher/student, Ayurveda practitioner, life coach, and book lover, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in clinical social work. She has served the south Florida community since 2002. In addition to providing psychotherapeutic services for individuals, couples, and families, she has taught child development and infant mental health courses, coordinated early intervention services, and facilitated play therapy groups in Head Start programs, social skill-building groups in elementary and middle schools, and peer support groups with adolescents and adults. Through her company, Parenting Partners Consulting TYME, Tyona has collaborated with several organizations as a coach, trainer, and group facilitator. She incorporates mindfulness practices in her trainings, and in her parenting, grief, professional, and personal development groups.
“I have experienced the power of groups, the power embedded within the messages we receive from our body, and the power of mindfulness to deepen our relationship to ourselves, our families, our communities, and the complex world around us.”
Tyona is a wife of 20+ years, a mother of four diversely creative teen and adult children, and a caregiver/health care coordinator for an adult parent who acquired a brain injury. She is “embracing experiences of struggle as opportunities to reflect, discover and transform the moment (over time) into more easeful living.”
