During the golden era we had lots of dubstep on a heavy beat, even melodic stuff with chill vocals. Somehow it flowed really well. Then we had heavy snares during brostep era. I am obviously aware that trends change but riddim and tearout have flattened out the genre. Few years ago it would sound kinda cool, especially when Black Label was still a thing. Riddim killed Black Label and that is the truth - the music wasn't heavy anymore and there were little to no difference with the main NSD. The reason why BL was created was for much heavier stuff. I can't be convinced that these days tearout can be heavy on all those flat claps instead of snares. At least we had some very good tearout releases like Mastadon. I am no longer following these subgenres much since there are too many new labels after NSD was gone. For instance Megalodon started his own label but mostly it's just flat, unexciting stuff.
