Wilbur X. Chen

I am an Assistant Professor in Accounting at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I graduated from Harvard University with a Ph.D. in Business Administration, graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a M.Phil. in Accountancy, and from McGill University with a B.Sc. in Physics.

My research interests are in capital markets, corporate governance, equity valuations and the economics of digitization. My current research agenda ties these research fields together, and studies the role of capital markets in the digital economy. This agenda aims to examine (1) how capital markets view digitization in firms, (2) the potential governance role of market institutions in digital investments and (3) how digital technologies are changing competition between capital providers.
