Wil Page is a native Angelino, born to Susan and Jim Page, both involved with LAUSD as an Educator and Parent Representative respectfully. Wil attended Wilton Place Elementary School (K-5), St. Brendan's School (6-8), and Daniel Murphy High School (9-12). He graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in English with a minor in International Relations. After university, he began working in non-profit public relations for Fenton Communication. After a move to Tucson, Arizona found Wil working for United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona, focusing on the organization's Multi-Cultural Leadership Development program, which identified candidates of color to work on the boards of Southern Arizona non-profits. A move back to Los Angeles saw Wil working with an employer from his post High School days; together they opened Heavenly Diet Store, a speciality foods market in Sherman Oaks.
Following the sale of the store, Wil became an LAUSD District Intern in 2007 and began his delayed dream of becoming an educator. His career began as a Sixth and Seventh Grade Math and Science teacher at Joseph LeConte Middle School. Wil's tenure at LeConte was to be cut short by the R.I.F. cycle of 2009, but a prudent look at the UTLA-LAUSD Collective Bargaining Agreement caused Wil to be able to use a contract loophole to save his position and launched his interest in UTLA. The following year LAUSD successfully R.I.F.ed Wil, but he was offered a position in November 2010 at John Liechty Middle School. With declining enrollment hitting Liechty, Wil began to look for other possibilities and was recommended and hired to joint the staff of Thomas Starr King Magnet Middle School. The move to King brought a change of subjects and Wil began teaching ELA and Social Studies. As of the 2019-2020 school year he is the Instructional Technology Coach at King.
After a year at King, Wil made a successful run for UTLA Chapter Chair, a position he has held for the past seven years. In addition to Chapter Chair, Wil has served UTLA members on the North Area Steering Committee, has been NEA Representative Assembly member for the past six years, a CTA State Council delegate, and as a House of Representatives delegate. One of his proudest moments as a UTLA member came when he was selected by the P.A.C.E. Board to represent our Union at the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington D.C. Additionally, Wil was honored as a 2017 UTLA/NEA W.H.O. award winner. In addition, Wil has represented UTLA members at the Congressional Black Caucus, CTA’s Political Activist Academy, LA County Fed’s Civic Leadership Academy, and will be at the 2020 NEA National Leadership Summit.
Wil is supported by his spouse, Johanna, and their daughter, Samara. In addition to his school based assignment, and UTLA duties, Wil is active in Pasadena education politics, serving on the SSC for his daughter’s public elementary school and the PUSD LCAP Parent Advisory Board.
