Wikidata (www.wikidata.org, Wikipedia article) is a Wikimedia hosted and maintained project launched in 2012 that aims to create a free knowledge base about the world that can be read and edited by humans and machines alike. It will provide data in all the languages of the Wikimedia projects and allow for the central access to data in a similar vein as Wikimedia Commons does for media files.

It's quite easy to do this by yourself, just a bit tricky for such a big relation. Best way is to select the relation on www.openstreetmap.org like this: Zoom in as far as possible such that part of the red line is still visible. Then hit the edit button on the top left to open the in-browser editor iD. You need to be logged in. On the left hand side you can now see all attributes associated with this relation. You see a group of fields titled Wikidata. If you click on the arrow next to "Lincolnshire" you can select the correct wikidata ID.

over in another thread ( -inaturalist-places-and-linking-to-wikidata-using-geojson/12220/15), @salgo60 talks about a tool that seems to pretty quickly return a Wikipedia URL based on an iNat place ID, if the place is set up with an iNat identifier in Wikidata. he wrote:

A MapRoulette challenge is trying to resolve issues between the brand:wikipedia and brand:wikidata. Most of the tasks that are left are around T-Mobile in the US where there currently are two different Wikidata tags (Q327634 (T-Mobile International) and Q3511885 (T-Mobile US).

In most cases in the challenge, it is used with the Wikipedia page en:T-Mobile instead of the T-Mobile US - Wikipedia.

This workshop will serve as a hands-on introduction to finding, editing, and using data in wikidata, using people associated with paleontology collections (e.g., collectors, researchers, collections staff) as subjects for this introduction. Wikidata offers a solution for capturing and sharing information about people that allows the paleontology community to capitalize on the distributed knowledge curated by individual collections. This workshop will explore how anyone working in paleo can add information to wikidata efficiently, as well as how to create links between wikidata and a collections management system (CMS). Workshop participants will co-create guidelines for disambiguating people and curating wikidata entries in the paleo context, including what types of information are ideal to capture (e.g., birth and death dates, research areas, collecting focus, links to publications, links to archival materials, etc.). These guidelines will build on existing work done by the bat research and collections community (see Leachman 2020), and will be disseminated after the workshop as a white paper.

The wmf.wikidata_item_page_link table (available on Hive) contains links between a wikidata item and its related wikipedia pages in various languages. It is generated by joining wmf.wikidata_entity site-links to reconstructed localized-namespaced-page-titles from wmf.mediawiki_page_history and wmf_raw.mediawiki_project_namespace_map. 17dc91bb1f
