One of my favorite childhood memories is picking up beach glass on the sands of the Bering Sea in Nome, Alaska. These same sandy beaches in the 1890’s were sprinkled with gold starting the Alaskan Gold Rush. This is why I have entitled my site, Washed in from Nome. I find beauty in the treasures found during my travels and adventures. As a lifelong Alaskan, I enjoy traveling to warmer places, painting and experiencing different cultures through food and my senses.
About my past- TEACH
For the past 32 years, I have focused my attention on teaching Elementary art. As you can see from my photos, one of my favorite ways to share art facts with students is through a "living history" by dressing up and giving a first-hand story about their lives. About my present- CHANGE
I am making the transition from teacher to professional artist. Aristotle said, “Change is good in all things”, and I am excited to make this move towards a new career. All that I have learned from sharing my love of learning with students, I will pour into growing and developing as an artist.
About my future- THRIVE
I have a desire to be a lifelong learner, so my future is a quest for knowledge through actively pursuing adventures that expose me to newness. As I learn, my artwork will also change and grow, it’s exciting to wonder where things will end up!
